Ok, I have a question for you guys.

Lets say that you are hunting in the evening and apon darkness deer are feeding around you. None of them are shooters and it gets to dark to shoot your bow anyway. What is the best thing for the hunter to do in this situiation?

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm sitting still as long as possible in hopes that they move on so I can get out of there without spooking them. Of course, there are limits to how long I would be able to sit there without someone coming to look for me after dark. I'd give my brother about 45 minutes before he showed up to find out what had happened.

Well I hunt all public land and rarely hunt the same patch of woods 2 days in a row so I'd just come on out if the deer spook they will return, especially if you're hunting a main food source.

Keep a few pebbles or acorns in your pocket and toss a few around the outer perimeter, something to ruffle them a bit without actually taking notice of you.

I try to stay put until they move along. They may come back after being spooked, but I guarantee they will check that tree every time the come back.

I normally try to stay in the stand as along as possible.. If you get out with deer in the field you are liable to spook the deer out of that area. I would highly recommend staying in until it is to dark to see anything then get out.

Since I don't climb trees, it's easy. When it's too dark to shoot but still light enough to see where I'm going, I just back out, slow and easy. Stalking, but in reverse.

I promise that this works and the deer will come back the following evening, buy a coyote call, or use your natural voice if you can, and when you want the deer to leave , do your coyote call and the deer will leave but not be so spooked that they wont come back.

I will second the coyote call trick. You can buy a call for $10 and just always carry it in your pocket. Then when it gets dark and there are deer feeding in the open get out your call and do a single howl and the deer should run to cover. Trust me it works.
