Though LA is geographically in the SOUTH.........I don't think you'd get many people putting you on their list of "southern" states.

"The South" has little to do with geography. Ask Florida.

They have to lick because we know most of them can't chew anything.

The southern deer are just so small that they appear to be ducking.;)
While we are on the subject I wonder what weight difference is on say a 4.5 year old.
Well, I'll give you this example. One of the more productive hunt clubs that I am lucky enough to attend has about 35 full life-time members (this ain't one of those clubs you just join...). They have not had a year, not one, since I have been hunting with them (which has been nearly 20 years now) that the club as a whole has not killed at least 350 deer a season. Usually its up over 400. They have lots of land, and lots of deer, and lots of young'in, grandkids, etc etc to shoot them. Of course, they also trophy manage. There have been a few deer to gross over 200" that have come out of this club in the 40 years of its existance. They do kill lots of big, mature deer, every season.

Not one deer, NOT ONE SINGLE BUCK ever killed at that club has weighed over 225 pounds on the hoof....NOT ONE.

Amen. Its just proof that humans...just like deer...go to the water when they are about to die.

As someone who has lived in the North (Ohio) in the South (North Carolina) and the Non South (Florida).

I doubt the deer do anything faster..the reactions of the people are just slower. If there is a correlation of deer anxiety it may be due in part to the constant hunting with dogs..that puts the deer more on edge. First instinct at sound is flight! First movement to run, is to load up the legs for quick departure=ducking.

Disclaimer: People in the South are great and outwardly friendly..this is no slam on them, they are just more laid back.

And I'm not saying "you" hunt with dogs, but it is the primary method used in the areas "I" was in, in both (Fl. and N.C.)
