a pope and young at 10 yards on the ground !!!! almost coulda petted him but when in Illinois let the borderline walk to get the top of line. That being said he was about 125 to 130 adn it was my first day so i held off also wouldve hated that tracking job in pouring rain. If i could do it again i would do the same thing because i saw some truly amazing bucks and got a shot at a 140s to 150s class 10 pt 2 days later that got away from me[:@].

back around 1997 I passed up 4 different bucks from 125" thru 140" plus for a crack at "BUBBA", but I couldn't get a clean shot. This was on opening day of the NJ bow season, well I never saw that buck agian, and then we lost the farm.
Here are 2 pictures of "BUBBA'S" rack, my friend Scott found both sides

3 deer legitemately around 112-118 inches. All 2 1/2 year olds over that last 3 seasons. The funny thing is I will easily take a 2 1/2 year old buck anyday in that range. Somedays I just feel that I can do better.
Last season I did let go 2 different bucks in the 130 range (on public ground).. due to lack of tags.

Big bodied 7 point last year. We have a self imposed 8 point rule (somewhat flexible). While studying every detail of his rack he finally got suspicious. Have passed on several sixes. I'm frustrated but determined this season.

A 120 in velvet last year September. 2nd morning of the season and I had him 20 yards but didnt want to fill my 1 and only tag on the 1st week. I regret that decision looking back after killing a 100in. 7 point in late season desperation.

I have passed quite a few bucks in the 70-85" range, but the biggest was during the 2005 season I passed a 100" 8 point. I saw him the following year as a high 120's 3.5 year old once and couldn't get a shot (I would have wasted him then), and then we found him dead in a ditch gut shot and half eaten by yotes a few weeks later.
I don't regret passing him in 2005 because we found both sheds and had some cool encounters with him, but finding him like this really turned my stomach.
Here are his sheds as compared to his rack when we found him dead. Some of you might remember the "sick to my stomach" thread I started about this buck when we found him dead.

The biggest buck I ever passed was a 70"-80" 6 ptr. His g2's were really big, and I wasn't sure whether to pass or take him,and because of that I ate tag soup all winter[8D]. Hopefully he's still out there but with a few extra points this year.
