As for the law breaking part of it I am sure none of you speed on your way to work?
So, ifsomeone speedsontheir way to workthey'd better not be opposed to others breaking other laws? Any laws? As to not be considered hypocritical?

RE: Someone I know......

I'm sure the Father knows how the son screwed up big time! If it were me I would let the Father have the talk with his son. Sure your are mad but this is more of a Father/Son situation than anything! I think the kid would get more out of it hearing how he screwed up coming from his Dad! JMO!
His father is the one who allowed a 14 yr old access to a 30-30 rifle to shoot at a game animal on a Sunday that NEITHER one had a clue whether there was a season in for that animal, or not. EVERY situation is different. I know these people REALLY well....and I'll have a separate conversation with dad. MY son's over there, sometimes. If a 14 yr old has carte blanche access to those type firearms.....I need to know it.

I've hunted with this young man before.....and he's been at my house shooting bows. I'll have my own talk with him.....and I'll let dad know that, too. THAT will be fine.

bawanajim, Sorry, you don't make much sense to me.

I would be more concerned about the 14 yo having access to a 30/30 with other kids around, if that is the case. Hopefully this won't turn into a fight between you and the father. I do agree about having something mounted that was poached....not much of a trophy IMO.

bawanajim, Sorry, you don't make much sense to me.
I will type this slower if that helps.;)

The kid wasn't trading crack to little Suzie for hummers.

He shot a fox !!!!!!!!!!!! An animal that most consider vermin!!!!!!!!

At 14 years old if thats the worst fault you can find in him I would say he's going to be a fine young man!!!!!!

You can only beat a dog so long and then he won't come back, teach the kid something and you just might get more than resentment out of him!!!!!!!

You guys sound like The good Rev Al Sharpton and it was Don Imus that did the dirty deed. You all need to take a deep breath and calm your selves.

You have not mentioned how old the kid is ,and yes it does matter.I know times have changed but when I was a kid nothing was safe from me and my daisy. One time I got caught shooting a song bird and that was the end of my daisy & my sitting for a long time.

If you want to explain to the father that you don't approve go ahead, but don't be surprised if he thinks that foxes are worth less predators that should be shot on sight. Most farmers do.
When fur prices were high there were many trappers ,today there are few.And with this predator numbers have surged and the results are declining small game numbers. Some of us like grouse better than foxes.

If you can find a good point about having foxes around maybe you will be able to convince him not to shoot them in the future.
A goose hatched five gosling's on my pond last week as of last night they were all killed. I am not a fan of avian predators either!

As for the law breaking part of it I am sure none of you speed on your way to work?
Go ahead stone away!!!!!!!!!;)
I have never met a farmer that wants predators dead. They want what they kill dead because they eat their crops, and so they like the coyotes and fox and hawks and owls. Now every rancher that I know hates coyotes, but I have never heard one complain about fox. Of course, I don't know any rabbit or mouseranchers;)

A 14 year old should know better.

You've never met a farmer that had chickens, sheep, calves, etc that didn't want coyotes/foxes killed? We have farmers that ask us to shoot coyotes here. Foxes are kinda rare here, but I don't think they would have a problem with us shooting them...in season of course.:D

But using your speeding analogy as you did, that wouldn't matter either.
