How'd it do? Please share your story on it's performance, shot angle, bone impact, any specifics would be appreciated.
This head has always intrigued me, and I'd like to here about it's on game performance.

RE: Anyone shoot a deer with a Montec yet?
In September I used a Montec G5 (125 grain) which completely penetrated a broadside bull at around 35 yards albeit the shot was somewhat low not hitting the thickest part of the rib cage. This was coming from a 70# Darton Maverick generating around 70 pounds of kinetic energy.
The same setup and head harvested a decent buck that was shot at a quartering away angle. Although a complete passthrough was not acheived due to the arrow staying in the neck of the deer (both sides of the arrow were sticking out) it certainly wasn't the fault of the broad head. A blind man could have followed the blood trail. Of course the location of the hit had everything to do with that. I don't think there was an ounce of blood left in that animal. Even the lungs that are normally bright pink were pale. I have resharpened the head and it is ready for service again.
At any rate I hardly think shooting two animals with it makes me an authority on the head but all indications of its performance are positive.

I used mine twice this year - also the 125gr. G5 montec - one complet pass through both lungs adn also through one shoulder blade, went 10 or 12 yds farther and stuck in a tree. another shot was a pretty sharp quatering away, went in behind the last ribs, came out behind the opposite front leg and cut the meat dwon to bone and passed through - never really hit any bone directly on that shot. both animals went down fast!! both heads are ready for next year. I used these out of the package but I have heard reports of some not being sharp out of the package. Sharpness is a subjective thing i guess, and i feel personally that if you buy these heads you should already be prepared to sharpen them so I wouldn't have cared either way but wanted to let people know.
