Paul: If you want a job, stop by the shop!

There was a time when I kept the shop open 7 days a week all year. Then I decided to close 2 days a week from December through June. Then it became November through June. Now it's November through July.

I feel, at my age, that working 7 days a week from August 1st throught October 31st is enough. What has happened is that the customers are starting to come in earlier before the season to get my service without as much of a rush. This distributes my income over a longer period of time and gives me some time off to hunt with my son.

The days we have off are Wednesday and Saturday. Many ask, why Saturday?. The reason is we can't hunt Sunday in Maryland and, with my son in school, the only day he has to hunt is Saturday. Those two days off during the off-season is valuable to get things done around my house.

My competition about 7 miles south liked the idea so much that he is now doing the same thing. We figure that most of our customers ought to be in the woods on Saturday anyway, so why not us going hunting. If they break anything they can bring it to us on Sunday.

Sounds like a great plan to me.

As was said, It's a job and also who do you think will be servicing and preping all the customers equipment. True story here, "Wife and I both ride Harleys and enjoy(ed) all the road trips to variouse bike weeks as well as local rides and vacations. She gets a job (which she wanted very much) at the local H-D dealership and quess who is always working when everyone else is packing up to head outta town? I bet you have guessed. That's why I wrote Enjoy(ed). Just something to think about.
