As far as whether or not Ted went overboard with the name calling and "psychotic rambling," is his rambling any more psychotic than those on the extreme opposite end of the issue? Absolutely not!
I won't argue you on that one, some of them are really out there. I was watching HardBall with Chris Mathews last week and he his completely out of touch with reality. He said something like buying a handgun was as easy as getting a slice of pizza.

Last time I checked I didn't need ID and a background check to get pizza, nor the amount of money a gun costs. I got pizza last night, a large for five bucks no questions asked. Walked in and walked out. Gotta love ceasers. I think this dude needs a new pizza shop.

It's a good thing they made pot illegal, cause you can't find it anywhere now.[]

As much as I don't really care for Riveara (sp?) he seems to stay pretty nutral on the subject. You can tell it troubles him, but he doesn't go overboard with it. At least not that I have seen. I don't see a lot of him either to be honest. I'm not a big news watcher.

Even if we all fall prey to the act like they do mentality when you are in the public eye like that you have to step back and think a little differently. Yes, the other side goes crazy and spouts all sorts of crazy crap.

However, that's when our side needs to keep a calm head and not fall prey to that mentality. It's exactly what anti-hunters want. The sad part is that if you show too much passion it can easily be turned around by the media as you are a gun totting lunatic not a passionate outdoorsman.

I'm not saying that Ted came off that way at all this time. It was much better than some other stuff I've heard and seen from him.

Throught out this forum people talk about being the better man. When it comes to this fight we have to be the better man.

Get rid of the zones and make it harder for the nut jobs to get the guns like haveing phsycic evaluations
No way willa phsyc testhelp out. Itjust another way to micro manage the gun buyer. We already have a 15 day wait period in some states likeCa.and up to 3 day wait with the present system, if, they have to look into your background. If you are a first time buyer, with a common name like Smith. You will die of old age before you get a gun. Wanna know how long it takes for a criminal to get a gun... less then 10 minutes. You can't stop them from committing the crime. What has the present laws done for the law abiding citizen? If someone is threatening your family. You decide to purchase a gun, there is a wait period. A criminalwill steal a gun to commit the crime, while we sit waiting ona gun to defend our homes and our families from these predators.Remember, they don't follow "Rules". If that was the case the Ho Chi Min would have followed the rule of no guns on campus...Didn't stop him.
I can only hope that with some of the bad comes some good. These gun ban fanatics open the friggin' eyes to see that the only way to fight crime is to fight crime. The problem with society is that everyone wonders how we could have changed this or prevented it. HELLO! your not going to stop things like Columbine or VT by banning guns or a "gun free zone". You are going to stop them by arming citizens and creating a enviorment that is not an easy target for these nut jobs to take advantage of.

have everyone that wants to buy a gun go thru a psych test?
Get real. Who would be in charge of this? Who would pay for this?
How long would this take?
Who's to say the psycologist giving the test would deny you because THEY don't believe in armed citizens? I am guessing that most of them are not members of the NRA?
I read on foxnews.com today that there is legislation that died in the past that is supported by the NRA and the dems that may be brought back to life in the wake of the VT tragedy. This legislation supposedly would prevent mentally ill persons from buying guns.

Dj
Good article.
As it says, a person is already banned from buying guns if they have a mental illness backround. I agree with that.
I may have taken your initial post wrong. I thought you were saying everyone should have to have a mental/psych test before buying a gun. I do not agree with that.

If the laws worked, they way they are already on the books, the shooter in this instance would've failed to pass the background check. Doesn't mean he wouldn't have gotten guns, he just wouldn't have been able to purchase them thru a gun store.
