If it killed the tree it did it's job.

It's OK to not worship the Muzzy broadhead! I used them for many years. A couple years ago, I experienced what I would consider a significant failure of the head. I'll try and post a picture of the failure soon. In a nutshell, the 3-blade 125-grain Muzzy completely destroyed itself on the shoulder-bone of a whitetail, and the arrow penetrated less than 2&quot;.

My hunting partner experienced the exact same thing a year later. I've switched broadheads since then. I know the Muzzy is a quality head, and I realize that the same thing may have happened with another broadhead, but I still can't bring myself to use them.

I find the the muzzy is a good broadhead flies true....but that is a problem with them. I used them on a field shoot into sand and had the same problem. I like them but I know they could be better.

I had a problem with the 90 grain 4 blade Muzzy heads I tried this year. They never flew consistent enough for me and I missed a deer this year with them.........when I retrieved the arrow the head was destroyed so I dug up the hole only to find a small tree root was what cause all that damage. I switched the heads immediately and put a WASP JAK-HAMMER through the heart of a 6 pt 3 days later.

I am sure Muzzy's are great heads. For whatever reason they didn't do well with my setup. Just find the heads that work best for you and nothing else matters.

Atlas,You went hunting with a broad head that wasn't flying right? Why would you do something like that?

I finally snapped a photo of the Muzzy I described, and thought I'd post it. Again, I'm not totally knocking Muzzy here, but I think it's important that people know they aren't necessarily bullet-proof.

This broadhead is the result of a 12-yard shot, almost perfectly level, at a Kansas buck, fired out of a 68-lb. Hoyt Striker Redline, at the end of a 29&quot; Nitro Stinger Gold. The arrow did not go any further than about 2&quot; and popped out. This is a 3-blade 125-grain Muzzy.


My hunting partner had the same thing happen to him about a year later.

I had the same thing happen to my Muzzy 4 blades several years ago. Broke off the tip, just at the base of the treads on 2 heads after going thru a target and killing a tree. I was living in Atlanta, near Muzzy's offices. Stopped by and showed them the heads. They wanted to keep them to investigate the problem. Gave me a tour, including a live drum test. Then gave me a new package of heads. Great people, great head. Send them back to Muzzy with an explaination of what happened.
