Carbon VS. Aluminum
#21
I have both and I like the speed from the graphites but I'm going back to hunting with alum. The only reason I shoot a bow is to hunt and maybe shoot the occassional 3-d for practice. The only thing I don't like about the aluminum shafts is the metallic sound in which is unforgiveing considering the circumstances but I've never heard of an aluminum arrow breaking and shooting oneself on release.

I don't consider either better than the other, I've killed game and won competitions with both. I'm currently shooting ACC's which I feel are at the top but I have no quams about shooting XX78's again, in fact, probably will but currently I have 25 ACC's fletched ready for action.

Carbon, it does everything an aluminum arrow does but does it alot better.

I tried them both and have gone back to aluminum. I had problems with carbon arrows breaking on a tough bone shot and feel that aluminum is stronger. Having to deal with shards of carbon shaft in my game wasn't fun. Aluminum arrows are commonly found in almost any combination of shaft size and spine so custom arrows for you bow are easy to buy.

Carbon vs Aluminum? ....Oh man, not again.
I shot aluminum XX75's for years and migrated to carbon's. I will never switch back to aluminum! The pros/cons of shooting carbon outweigh the pros/cons of shooting aluminum.
But yet a hybrid design like an ACC would be awesome. I have heard so many good things about Easton ACC's, but I just can't see spending the $$$$ on them. I'd be terrified to loose one!

Passthru u are wrong! If you are shooting say, 25yds or less then you can't beat a heavier aluminum arrow, but if you are shooting farther than 25yds, I'd shoot carbons because they are more flat shooting but, they have less kinetic energy it's all personal preference.
