I finnaly started getting back in shape about four months ago after a long absence from it. Im lifting 4 days a week, eating healthier, drinking a ton of water and no more soda. At work im walking stairs from 1st floor to the 12th floor (killer) or walking long steep grade inclines, coal belt walk ways (also killer) or jogging at home. I have lost 23 lbs since i started again and feel better than i have in years. most certainly gonna help in hunting season.

I dropped almost 40 lbs in 2005. I can't imagine carrying that weight, again. I'm a treadmill guy.....and my magic number is 200lbs. I need to stay unde that to feel good. At 42.....it gets tougher and tougher.

I warm up on the treadmill with a 5 min. walk.....and during this time I have 2.5 lb weights in my hands. Having had shoulder surgery.....I KNOW this helps strengthen my upper shoulder muscles and "I" think this helps me to hold steady while at full draw.

I weight lift 4-5 times a week and run another 2 times a week as well. It certainly helps when you are dragging a deer out of the woods, or sometimes just being in shape makes you sweat that much less on those warm days walking and climbing into your stand.

I lift 4-5 days per week and do a moderate amount of cardio each day. Definately feel it the first few days of gun season hiking up the mountains!
I weigh around 235-240lb at 6'. Alot of weight to carry around..... but at least it is not fat...

You should stay in shape for your health..........benefits to hunting are a bonus.

One thing I add into the gym routine around this time of year (and then again at the end of summer) is grabbing the universal cable and setting it so you can simulate drawing your bow (holding at full draw)..........it really helps strengthen the shoulder girdle up for the abuse it will take all year shooting and at the end of the year towards hunting season it will help you hold longer if need be and be more steady............plus keeping your shoulders in good shape is never a bad idea if you want to shoot and bowhunt for many years to come.

Just to add make sure you do both shoulders. You never want one side stronger then the other.

Good work guys

The must important part is your core. A solid core is what brings it all togetherforall sports.

Golf, Football, Archery.....

Theball is great to work with. Anytimeyou use the ball you are working your core. Anytime you do an exercise in an athletic position you are working the core. Kind off a 2 for 1 deal.

If Atlas sets up in the athletic position and does his exercise he will also work his core.[8D]

I usually engage in vigorous nose picking at least once a day. I flex my butt cheeks several times a day as well, I then run to the bathroom. I'm in pretty good shape. How that helps my hunting,,,,,,? I don't know, I just like that story.
