Default Muzzy Heads

I know there are alot of Muzzy users on this board, and I want to use the 3-Blade 100grain fixed head next year. I was wondering what your set-up is(rest, arrow, broadhead) combination, and how large of vanes.

I myself switched to muzzy heads 4yrs ago, used thunderheads before that. I never had trouble with them, just liked muzzys design better. My son and I hunt elk a lot and felt muzzys would hold together better if it came in contact with bone. I can yell you with out a doubt they were very easy to tune. We've taken 7 elk and 5 muleys in the 4yrs, 2 pass throughs on elk all pass throughs on deer, they are bad to the bone. We both shoot hoyt bows, mines 10yrs old the boys 5yrs old, our arrows are ics400 beman, nap fall away rest, he likes 100's I like 125's for the extra weight, both shoot 74lbs, the arrows have 4inch plastic vanes with straight helical. Very simple but lethal setup. elknut1

OlMossyHorns,
I use the 100 grain, four blade Muzzy's myself, but my setup is a Carbon Express Terminator Select 4560, 27.25" 400 grain total weight. I use 4" AAE vanes on a right helical, and I use the Muzzy MZE rest. Hope this helps you out some.

I have had good results using the 100gn 3 blade, with 2 7/8" Kurly Vanes (off set how ever much the Arizona E Z FLetch makes them...4%?)
And an ARC Systeme drop away rest. I use Carbon Express CX200.
With the bow tuned properly, they will hit the same spot as field points....even with 2&quot; fletching!!! (As long as it's Kurly Vanes <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

If I use a fall-away rest, does it really matter if I use helical vanes, because I won't have to worry about fletching contact right?

I use Easton Carbon Evolution 400's with 4&quot; vanes, Martin Cougar Magnum is set at 65 lbs., and use a plain ole TM Hunter rest. The Muzzy's shoot like my field points.

I do plan on getting a Bodoodle Pro Light arrow rest next year though.

I love my muzzys. Both deer taken this year have had complete pass throughs. Im using 3 blade muzzy 100 grain broadheads, 30&quot; easton carbon excel 340 arrows at 420 grains, tru-flight 4 inch helical feathers, Mathews Legacy, Bodoodle Pro lite. 70 pounds and 275 FPS and no tuning problems. Great broadheads.

OlMossyHorns,
You're right about the fall away rest. You can put any helical on them that you want. One of the reasons that I switched to the MZE.

I'm about identical to Trebark, 100gr. 4blade, CarbonExpress 200, 4in.feathers with a right helical, and a Muzzy ZeroEffect rest. I screw them on, shoot them all once, pick out my favorite and thats it.

I have used Muzzy 3 blade heads on aluminum, carbon, and ACC's. I have shot them with everything from 5&quot; vanes and feathers down to 4&quot;. With a properly tuned bow, and a good 4&quot; helical vane they will fly great, and preform very well on any game you will hunt. one of the most accurate setups used 27&quot; 2314's with 100 grn muzzys out of a 70lbs bow. The was and is an excellent combination of speed, arrow weight, and accuracy.
