Went on a hog hunt this past weekend for the first time on a preserve. There most of been between 5 - 10 acres fenced in where I hunted with a guide. I arrowed one in less than an hout. It seemed more like a 3D shoot than a hunt. Next time I will ask alot more questions before booking a hunt over the phone. What do you all thank about this so called hunt. I was pleased with the shock waves though, had a complete pass through and would use them again for hogs.

Sounds more like 'shooting' rather than 'hunting' to me. Glad that the Shockwaves worked well for you, though. Hope they didn't charge you too much for this outdoor experience.

I really do despise the "game ranches" that are really no more than game farms. The animals get fed a precision diet from a feeder and are monitored constantly. It's called "intensely managing" a deer herd, but it's farming in its purest form. The only difference in that and cattle farming is that the deer are sold to individuals and they are killed before taking them to the butcher instead of them being killed at the butcher's.

Man 5-10 acres!!!!! Lord that must have been like shooting fish in a tank, I know you were hot, I wouldn't hunt any preserve, but 5-10 acres! What was there advertising like, was it misleading?

Anything for a buck right? lol jezz! I don't condone high fence operations myself. If a landowner set up his property correctly, he doesn't need the fence at all. If you put everything the deer need on your property they won't go anywhere else unless you push them out. Even then they'll come back after a couple of days. I would consider posting the name of the outfitter so that others won't be sucked in also.

Kinda like huntin' at the zoo! I've been asked to go on "canned" hog hunts here in Mi. I've always been leary for exactly that reason. If I want pork that bad, I'll buy it at the grocery.
10 Acres...With a guide!LOL! Were they afraid you'd get lost?! Great way to test the broadheads though.

I had the same experience with a hog hunt a couple of years ago. The guide/proprietor supposedly had hogs on his place...guaranteed. It turned out he had a 5 acre pen "just in case". The pen was actually an oversize wild hog trap where the anamals could get in but never get out. He could "gaurantee" you a hog but this is not hunting. No one in our party ever saw a free roaming hog. Its like shooting fish in a barrel ... a lesson learned about "guanteed hunts"!!!! Always ask before you book.

Don't get me started. I'll make it short... NO. However, I have been known to conduct a panty raid in the womens dorm but that was OK because the girls opened the door for us. So, if the pig says, come on in... I'd be tempted.... if for nothing else than to "Converse". Nyuck nyuck nyuck.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Fishing in a "Stock Tank"??? Hmmmmm .... I hunted ducks for a time on a big cattle operation. Those stock tanks were mega-stinky. There was knee deep do do all around. So were the ducks that came from them late in the year. I don't think I'd want to eat any fishies from there.
