All I can say is I agree..with both sides. Passion is the only factor. wheather you say a pray or shout to the roof tops it's because of passion for the animal. I personally try to compose myself out of smarts to stay under the radar, but to each his own. There was an ice storm here last night. I tell you i lost sleep worrying about a group of does that has to cross a highway south of my property to get to food. Now this morning there were no deer on the side of the road but if I didn't have passion I wouldn't care.

The only thing I don't understand is if we want to be undetected by any deer...exspecially the ones we've shot, why make any noise?

The way i think about it is you should be proud of anything and everything you shoot. Andi dont see why you cant throw your fist around stuff like that, i'll tell you one thing i sure get excited when i see my deer go down. Who wouldnt? Thats one of the best parts. And i do give all the pro's alot of credit since they do have a tough job. Just my .02!

I usually get the shakes really bad after the shot. I usually sit there take a few minutes to catch my breath and calm down. Then thank the big man upstairs for giving me the opportunity to do what I love and harvest the animal.

I do get a rush if it's a nice buck. Mostly tho, I know that the work is just beginning. Maybe having to find it, gut it, haul it out, and skin it. . . .usually by myself.
I always get my biggest rush when I first see it . . .theres just something magical about such a wary creature stepping out not knowing I'm there.

Like I said, guys.....no wrong or right way.
I also think a lot of you missed my entire meaning. I'm talking about the time right after the shot. I'd never speak badly of ANYONE being excited about their harvest. Not what I meant.
RIGHT WHEN we see a lot of these guys whooping and hollering on TV....the camera's still panning the scenery....and we see the animal still VERY MUCH alive. Hey...I'm in the minority, it seems.....but I wasn't even fond of the taunting Sadaam got before his execution. Even someone of his lowlife status deserves to die with dignity.
I'm EXTREMELY excited when I find my animal.....or see it go down and stop moving. Until that time....I'm too worried about how good my hit was....or too intently watching the trail the deer's taking heading out of my set. When it's REALLY over.....and the recovery is in the bag.....I'm excited, too. Always will be....

Personally, I do not hoop and holler. I think those that do look kinda immature, but whatever.
My buddy and I get a lot of kicks with our expertimmitations of Stan Potts' hyperventilating. Our favorite of him was inIowa when he shot a double main beam andit's almost like he has a grabber. Another one of our favorite's is when he's talking to a monster as it walksout of range and hepleads "I was gonna make ya a star". Haha.

After the shot and my adrenaline level gets back to normal, I try to stay calm, till the recovery of the animal. Now at the time of recovery, if you was a passer by and seen me, you would probable think I lost my mind. I get right into my dance, and it goes something like this, a little Egyption, a little Watoosi ?, a little Russian, a little American Indian, with someMoon Walk throwed in at the end!!! Followed by a prayer and a period of remorse for the animals life I just took. No disrespect to the Animal, just a short celebration for the end of a Hunt!!!

it all depends for me, for instence when i shot a doe this year and i knew i didnt make a great hit on her i did absolutly no celabrating, because there was nothing to celebrate about although i did find her. On the other hand after 40 days of hard hunting when i shot my buck this year i watched him go down and man did i get fired up. Or 4 years ago when i was 12 i shot a 155 inch 12 pointer with my shotgun and my dad and i were hollering and giving hugs for like 10 minutes.I think its all about the situation.

Everybody does thier own thing and that is what is great. I love Stan Potts, cracks me up when he loses his marbles.....you can't script that.
For me the best part isgetting back to camp, celebrating with my buddies, telling the entire story multiple times detailby detail, and throwing back some cold ones! But that's me

He could have no dignity....ever
