Is it true that there can be a secondary rut when a cold spell comes through an area after the peak time of the rut? In other words does a cold front bring on late rut activity?
Thanks in advance for the replies.

I don't know what a Cold Front has to do with it, but there is a secondary rut that occurs 28 days after the first rut, for those does that have not been breed the first go around. And those yearlings that were born early, some of them come into estrus as well. It is not near as strong as the first rut but you can still talk some of them bucks into giving up... Good Luck...

I agree with all of the above statements, look when your peak rut took place, and roughly 28 days later there will be a secondary rut, alot of little bucks are taken at this stage as the older mature bucks are worn out from the first, some good bucks will still be active and can be called or lured in, but a majority of the bucks that breed in the secondary are the bucks that the mature bucks did not let breed does. Good Luck
