RE: Made a bad shot on a good buck tonight (with video)
ORIGINAL: HuntinGUS You know this is the bowhunting forum right?;)[8D] My point is that its a low % shot. I think I'll either wait for a better shot or let him walk. I think I owe it to the animal. |

Very cool video, and I agree with the flesh wound theory. Looks like that buck already a wound of somekind, whether from fighting or othercause, but he is well-scarred now! And much smarter!

Whenever Ihave taken a quartering to shot I normally blow right through the shoulder and it's a very short tracking job....;) IMPO, the word that I don't really care for in your post is "normally". Does that mean 9 out of 10, 8 out of10, 7 out of 10. What would the number need to be before even considering not taking a quartering to shot?Nine seems enough to me personally. Also, why does the Bowhunters Education Foundation not recommend taking a quartering to shot?Or does their opinion simply not apply to us? |
RE: Made a bad shot on a good buck tonight (with video)
So you're telling me that you have total confidence that your arrow will pass through the shoulder on a quartering to shot? Not the shoulder blade, the shoulder. My point is that its a low % shot. I think I'll either wait for a better shot or let him walk. I think I owe it to the animal. Oh......... and please don't talk to me about oweingit to the animal as if I am doing something unethical. |

Thanks for proving my point.;) |
