I agree with others it was above the spine, on a shot that wasn't taken on the best angle. But the deer should live. Of course every deer we shoot at deserves to be followed up on 100% so don't just check it out half-heartedly based on our comments (and I'm sure you wouldn't). Good video, and good luck.

Did you notice the limb in front of the vitals?

IMO, It's a good thing you you didn't hit directly below the impact. You would have only gotten one lung. Bst case scenerio IMO would be spine/artery if you hit directly below the impact.

You would have had to shot through the limb (or very close to it) and a lot of bone to get both lungs the way that deer was standing.

You may want to consider not taking quartering to shots as tought by Bowhunter Education Courses.

In any event, this deer will be OK.

did anyone see the second vidio clip called doe kill or something like that.I gotta wonder where it is that you can walk up on a feeding doe in plain wide open, and shoot her with a bow after she sees you.Was it one of those gamefarms, was it in a place where no man has ever gone before? I gotta know! Oh yea,That buck is fine, but your shooting.....

ok he shot high and a foot back, its a miss. What if he would have shot low and a foot back right through the guts. Or stabed it right into the branch. I think it was a very poor decision to shoot at this animal and even a worse shot! It is easy enough to screw up a perfect shot much less a virtually impossible one. He had everything stacked against him.

It looks to me as if the shooter was to the left of the camera man. Can't say for sure if the limb was in the way, BUT, the deer would have been a at a worse quartering to angle then the camera man. Looks like the arrow penetrated directly above the scare already on it. One lung scenerio in my eyes anyway if the arrow was to impact directly below where it did. Like I said, I think a spine, artery would be best case scenerio for a quick death if the arrow was to hit directly below where it did. Not that he wouldn't find a possible one lung/liver hit deer (it would just take longer and bit more suffering).

In any case the deer is OK. Which is good news to me anyway.
