deer call ??????????
Ok i have looked on the forum and searched the web for some answers and so far I have not found them. I am realitivly new to deer hunting this will be my 3rd season and so far I only shotgun hunt here in IL. I have a bow and Just not ready to hunt with it yet. any how my question is with the deer calls do you just blow throw them or is there more o a trick to it. I ask because I want to start using them but dont want to do it wrong and scare everything away. So if anyone can please post how to use deer calls. Thank you all this is the greatest forum I have found.

RE: deer call ??????????
I guess i did not ask the question right I am getting a can but I was wondering for example the true talker do you just blow through the tube or is there more to it than that. I have no one here to teach me how to use grunt tubes or calls of that nature the can I understand. Just trying to understand more on the grunt tubes. Thanks

For the most part, you simply blow with the truetalker. However, you can vary the pitch of the call. Towards the top of the call (where the rubberbands are), you can push down on the reed. Depending on where you push down, the call will come out as a different pitch (bleats to young buck grunts to mature buck grunts) However, if you don't have a lot of mature bucks around your area, I wouldn't use the mature grunt often.

Best bet is to find an instructional video by Primos or MAD calls. It really is a simple as blowing through them, but there are times to do it loudly and long and there are times to do it softly and/or short.
There's a guy named Pete Fiducia who has some videos out too. He's a little out there, but he goes into a lot of detail about how and when to use calls that's pretty helpful.

When using the True Talker , place your index finger on one of the bands and press lightly then blow or puff thru the tube softly three short times .
This sound mimicks a social call of deer , the four bands on the tube will make diffrent sounds and the morepressure you place on them the deeper the sound will be.
The first band is used for a fawn bleat or blat the second is for a doe , the third is for a young buck and the fourth is an old buck.
I've been using the True Talker for alot of years now and I have practiced alot with it , my hunting friends tell I'm pretty good at calling in deer .
The sounds you wanna make with this product are very close to what you been hearing in the real deer woods.
When calling for a big buck especially in the pre rut or full rut is a doe bleat , put your finger on the second band and press lightly the puff or blow three short times.
It should sound like a sheep going BAAAH BAAAH BAAAH only a little bit higher pitched , that is the sound of a doe in estorus.
Or you could try to entice an older buck by using the third band ( young buck ) again press the band lightly and blow or puff three short times , it should sound like someone burping ( BURRP BURRP BURRP ) remember the more pressure you apply to the band the deeper the sound will be.
The more you practice with your True Talker the better you'll get , good luck to ya and have a safe / secussful hunt.
