OK....Guys with bows shooting around 300 fps, I have a question
#11
I'm shooting a BowTech Dually and am shooting around 290FPS ,but I also agree with GrgH and Rob on this as well. I also shoot a spot hogg real deal as well as a Impact Archery Cosmic .Set at 20yrds and shooting 30 definately need's just a little compensation ,although my bow does shoot pretty flat there is a little compensation to be made .Now GregH when you buy your Diamond Victory you need to take into consideration ,is this the birth certificate that 's telling you that it shooting 296 or are you reading from the spec's ,being that they're based on a 30"arrow amnd 70# draw and then you need to consider that there is nothing on the string ,so anything you add to the string will also slow your bow down.
I'm sure your aware of this ,but just thought you may not have . So you may be looking at somewhere around 260's after you add your hardwhere to your string ,such as your peep ,silencer's ,nock set's and what ever else you add to it .

Rob,
What kind of sight do you have on your bow?
I'm not a fan of the target type sights that you set to a certain distance before you draw your bow.
I like the multi-pin sights and have been using them for years.
My current bow shoots 246 fps. I have 20, 30,40, 50 yard pins. I have enough gap between pins that I don't get that crowded sight picture.
If I get a bow that shoots in the neighborhood of 300fps I feel sure the pins will be stacked with little or no gap between them. I don't like that. I like to have a fairly clear view of my target, especially deer.

I understand the actual speed I get from the bow will be less than what they got.
Now you got me thinking; I looked at several Diamond bows and the one I want is a 60# bow. I was reading the " Birth Certificate" on several.
There were several models. I could almost swear the 60 pounder was rated 296fps
Somehow that looks too fast.
Now you got me considering jumping in the truck and going back to check

WW7, That is the Viper Predator Pro-MT. My Allegiance is shooting 301 and there is no pin crowding. The pin gap on a bow is the same as one shooting 285 to 310. I know this from shooting an adjustable 3D sight, the Tox with a Boss Scope. There was 3 lines of adjustment from 20 to 30 and 3 lines of adjustment from 30 to 40 and 4 lines from 40 to 50. That was the same on my Vortec (285 fps) as well as my Allegiance (301 fps).

Perhaps I could see 25 yards with one pin. Set the first pin at 0 - 25, and the second pin at 35. Understand your high / low sight picture, and your good with 2 pins out to about 40 yards.

I have a single pin slider. I have yardage markers at 20,30,40,50, and 60 yards. For hunting, I leave it set at 25 yards. It shoots 1" high at 20 yards and 1" low at 30 yards. Any farther than 30 and I move the pin.

I'm claiming bull on 1 pin. You all should list exactly what distance your one pin is set at and you should also mention that you need to hold high or low at nonexact distances.
GregH is correct, I don't care how fast your bow is set, you cannot shoot one pin out to 30 yards without compensating high or low on other distances. And if you claim I'm wrong, I'd love to shoot against you for money.

Itis possible that a 60lb bow shoots 300fps. When they are tested they are shot with an arrow that is 5 grains per pound of draw weight (for example- 70lb draw 350 grain arrow). My Allegiance shoots around 295 with my wisker biscuit and hunting arrows. I have four pins on my Copper John Dead Nuts (30, 40, 50 and 60). For hunting purposes I really doubt that the dear will notice the inch difference in the point of impact from 20 to 30 yards. But thats just my 2 cents.
