OK....Guys with bows shooting around 300 fps, I have a question

How far can you shoot with that first pin?

Does your bow shoot almost flat out to about 30 yds?

Thinking of getting a new bow and was wondering if I should go with a multi pin sight or if I should just have one pin.

Thanks for your help

RE: OK....Guys with bows shooting around 300 fps, I have a question

I had a 3-d bow that shot 320 fps. I used a sure-loc sight witha SAP 6X d-scope. I had sight markings for every 5 yards out to 80 yards. It will not shoot 0-30 yards with one pin. You'll have to hold a little high, if it is right on at 20 yards. I shoot fixed blade broadheads and tone down my bows to shoot 275 fps. This way my fixed pins on my sights aren't crowding together. There is a nice gap between them allowing me to bracket sight for the 5 yard increments between the pins.

RE: OK....Guys with bows shooting around 300 fps, I have a question

MyTrykonis spitting arrows fairly close to 300fps and I could definitely shoot with one pin. As it is My 0-20 yard pin is only a couple of inches low at 30 yards. When I'm "in the moment" I like to take the guesswork out of the equation and having a couple more pins makes that easier for ME. Everyone won't be the same.

RE: OK....Guys with bows shooting around 300 fps, I have a question

I'd say you should be able to shoot to about 30 yds. with one pin shooting 300 f.p.s....300 f.p.s. is 300 f.p.s. Really doesnt matter what the bow is. I mean, if your saying 300 f.p.s. is an IBO speed for a particular bow, then your draw length and everything else would come into play. Your actual setup may not get you that 300 f.p.s, But if you took that into account and you're shooting 300 f.p.s with YOUR setup, then you should be close. Follow?? I hope...haha.

RE: OK....Guys with bows shooting around 300 fps, I have a question

This is a long story, I'll try to shorten it.

I won a gun.( See Guns forum)

I want to sell/trade for a new bow.

Didn't get bow yet, depends on how much I get for gun.

It will probably be a Diamond Victory. The " Birth Certificate" says it is shooting 296 fps.

If I get this or another bow shooting around 300fps, I was wondering what kind of sight to go with. I didn't want to crowd pins on a multi-pin sight if I didn't need to. I didn't want to buy one sight and wish I got something different.

I'd be happy if I could get almost 30yds out of one pin. I could aim alittle high on farther shots, rather that have a crowded pin sight picture.

RE: OK....Guys with bows shooting around 300 fps, I have a question

I have a Bowtech Tribute that shoots 315 fps and I am about 2 inches low at 30 yards with my 20 yard pin. I currently use Extreme RT900 sights and I have three pins(20, 30, 40) and they are pretty tight. I want to try a pedulum sight but didn't want to change during season. I will probably change after season. Hope that help a little bit.

I'm claiming bull on 1 pin. You all should list exactly what distance your one pin is set at and you should also mention that you need to hold high or low at nonexact distances.

GregH is correct, I don't care how fast your bow is set, you cannot shoot one pin out to 30 yards without compensating high or low on other distances. And if you claim I'm wrong, I'd love to shoot against you for money. ;)
