How do you say no?

I think explaining that you are not a guide is a good idea. Explain also that you enjoy the solitary nature of hunting. Perhaps there are some hunting opportunities nearby, public land or gaining permission to hunt another parcel. You can get together in the evenings to socialize. Explain that the freinds need to experience the rest of the process to appreciate it,the scouting the stand placement and even the permission aspect. If all this is too much and they just want to "pull the trigger" there are a lot of outfitters who will gladly accomodate them.

How about suggesting he find some hunting ground of his own and offer assisstance in scouting and placing stands? Who knows, he may have a relative or know someone else who has some land. He may just be thinking he has to have your expertise to be successful.

I went hunting yesterday. They weren't at the private property I hunt but they were at the public area.
The public area is a state park. It doesn't see alot of pressure until rifle season. It is a few miles from the farm.
I've taken many deer from the public area and have a few hot spots there. Well.....you guessed it. They hunted those hotspots. Hunted the exact trees.
I ran into them in the afternoon. I was going to hunt there and saw them in their truck. They said they hunted there that morning and saw several deer. They were bowhunting and squirrel hunting.
They were excited about seeing the deer and almost getting a few shots.
I'm glad they are hunting themselves but wish they'd find there own hotspots.
I shouldn't be complaining. I like the guy and his boy its just that it is starting to get under my skin.
You all know how it is. You find a good place to hunt and get a few years out of it and something always ruins it. Propery is sold or developed, others discover it, timbered or whatever.
It seems that over the last few years, I've been losing my hunting areas.
I'm down to just a couple and I'm feeling a little stingy, I guess.

I know the experience. When a relative tells me they are going to come up to hunt with me I just plain and simple say sorry but there isn't any room. We only have space for so many hunters and right now we are full up.
If he has the rocks to tell me he is going to hunt with me I have them to say sorry....... no room.

Sometimes you have to be rude some people just don't get the hint. You shouldn't feel bad you've already done your part to help. If they show up at the farm just tell them point blank I'm sorry but you can't hunt here. Tough love If they don't understand and get pissy they are not people I would want to hang out with or hunt withanyways.

Coaching someone is great after they have showed some interest and it helps bring in new hunters. BUT, hunting is not a team sport which is one of the reasons I like it so much. If you don't want a little solitude you had better find something else to do.
