The does will stay close to the same cycle year after year ,for the fawns to be big enouth to ween before next fall they have to come in and get bred 1st two weeks or so of nov. Some states vary.,,two weeks after that last full moon in oct ..But some states have up to three ruts...Dont you know there bucks get run down. But the cool weather does make the young bucks feel there oats.

I have seen younger bucks harassing does as early as the first week of October. I have never seen a mature buck during this time frame though chasing. Usually I start to see that stuff during the 3rd-4th week of October

The rut is dependant on the photoperiod, or the amount of light that reaches a deers eyes. It has nothing to do with the weather.
It's important not to confuse somerutting activity (scrapes, rubs, bucks chasing "cold" does) etc etc, with actual breeding activity. Just because a buck is chasing a doe around does not mean that he will "score" soon, or that the doe is in estrous. Yes bucks will chase does who are not in full estrous and this usually begins a few weeks prior to the peak breeding season. As a matter of fact, my findings have shown that this early season chasing of a buck on a doe slows down prior to actual breeding periods, when it will pick up again.
Just my two cents!!

Not to much earlier. Things other than temp will cause the rut. Amount of light is a big factor, but cool weather will help trigger it.

-deerslayer-..listen to campo..its all about the shortness of daylight.. Thats how its almost the identical time frames each season....weather..hot weather may lead to bucks chasin at nite...after all who likes it all sweaty and funky....Nothin stops the rut...........Meanwhile..bucks will spar and chase...thats all a prelude (pre rut)to the rut...part oflearning and instinctivebehaviors.......

The rut will be pretty close to the same time as last year.

In my experience, the cold weather helps the deer move more, which in turn, more deer movement and/or rut activity is seen. But the technical term of "Rut" happens very close at the same time, every year.
But who cares, cold weather is always good!... Come on Saturday!
