If I were you I would hunt that stand and the next time I saw that hunter I would apologize for how you may have come across and state that you will be moving your stand (even if its 50yds) and hope their are no hard feelings

I think that would be the best approach as well, I would apologize and explain that you got to your stand with tons of anticipation since you haven't hunted for a while, explain your situation... broke your bow and your arm, etc... Tell him it was just a downer to your excitement and let him know there are no hard feelings. Like everyone else here has said, if that buck of a lifetime, or even a doe for that matter runs onto his land and dies, you need to have an in with the neighbor. Trust me, I have heard many stories from people who didn't play their cards right and lost a deer to a neighboring property.
The guys are right, his stand is on his property, yours is on yours.... nothing can be done about that.

I had a lease a few years back that they guy next to me would put up feeders to draw the deer away from my stands. Every time Id set up a stand, he would put out a new feeder. It got impossible to hunt so I let the lease go. Some guys are just jerks.

One more thing I wanted to add, as for the bait pile, as a protection to yourself, I'd move your stand far enough away that if the C.O. comes to visit, you aren't accused of hunting over it as well. That much bait is illegal in Michigan... I was actually thinking ANY bait was illegal in Michigan, but I'm in Indiana, soI could be wrong. I'll ask my husband because he is from Saginaw, as well as my inlaws all live there.
The last thing you want is to lose your hunting license because someone else can't follow the rules.

Go to the local barbar shop and ask them to save you a trash bag full of human hair. One day when you know he's not there, go spread the hair around the bait pile, not too much though or he'll see it. I've heard that deer will stay away from human hair clippings. I'd have to agree since they probably smell like shampoo.

First off I would like to say thank you to all the people that have giving me helpful responces, to all the people that are negitive with there responces, I respect that, to each there own, but to help point the negitive ones in the right direction, It is NOT the landowner that is hunting it, it is one of his son's freinds, the landowner nor his family have ever hunted, and if you would have read my post carefully you would have seen that I had said, I put my stand up first, that stand was not there at ALL when I had put mine up. We also only have 10 acers to hunt, he has about 90, thats why I am so close to the line. Anyway I have hunted that same area many times before and NEVER encounterd anyone, me and the landowner had a talk tonight, we have never had any problems between us, he agreed that the kid had just put is stand up about a week ago and told his son that he noticed another stand. I told him about how after I talked with him he moved it, right on the line, so he talked to the kid its solved, I moved and he moved. Yes there is only like a 5 gallon bait rule here in michigan. All I ask is please dont prejudge people and there problems before you know everything, a simple question would have done just fine, before you start to yell at me or about me. I live in Saginaw, and hunt in Au Gres and Houghton Lake. So I hope there are no hard feelings between any of us, as we are all really family, hunting famliy.
