Default New to Stand Hunting- Have some questions.

I bought a Lone Wolf "hang on" stand which I think I will return.Foremost, I did not like the "exposed" feeling up on that stand even though I was using a harness. Three questions.

#1. Does anyone make a "hang on" that has an arm rest, back rest, and a front bar like the Summit Viper climbing stand has?????

#2. Are the "climbers" safer to use than the "hang on" type or not?????

#3. Are climbers like the Summit Viper easy to use and climb with?????

1. Yes, Gorilla makes one that has arm rests, a back rest and foot rest. I'm not sure of the model however.

2. I'm not sure one is "safer" than the other, but with the proper precautions and mindset they are all quite safe.

3. Yes, climbers are very simple to use. You just have to be more picky as to the tree you set them in, and learn the upward angle to start at. It sounds complicated, but it simply isn't.

Gorilla has a large selection of good hang - ons and climbers , I have a Gorilla Silverback and I use it all the time.

You just have to figure out where toset the length of the cable so when you climb up everything levels out. The tree gets narroweer as you climb therefore, it changes the angle of the stand,it pointsup at first thenas you climbit levels out!!!

vikesfan has it right. You can't start with the stand level. As the tree narrows it will allow slack in the chains, and eventually you will be pointing down, not level. Start with the stand pointing up, toward the top of the tree and as you climb it will level out.
