I shot my First elk
#52
My God...what has the world of professional hunting done to our beloved sport!! Remember the good old days when a feller wasn't ridiculed for not harvesting a world record animal??? What the heck is going on here? What right do any of us have to chastize a person for not shooting the same animal I would, or you would?? Damn those TV guys for breeding this absolute idiocity!!
Dude, I would be so happy I couldn't control my excitement!! That's a dream of mine, to hunt elk w/ a bow. Someday I'm gonna get to, and I hope my hunt is half as successful as yours! Congrats!!!!

What's up? See I don't get the chance to hunt elk, but, when someone comes on here with a button buck for their first bow kill it's all "great job man!."
What's the difference? He got his first elk kill! Congratulations.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You obviously had a great hunt, and also captured your excitement in your pics, something you can look at and remember for years.. My first bowkill was a button buck at the age of 18 and to this day,, that pic is framed on the COVER of my hunting photo album! I just hope you dont let the negative comments keep you from posting or coming to the forum again, there really are a ton of great people on here. Congrats again, hope to see many more of your trophies here.

I stalked into 40 yards and let'er fly. Something went wrong. I hit the tree behind her.
I don't know if my sites were off or she ducked.
She was angling towards me near 40 yards. I thought it was 30 and put the 30 yard pin on her.
Those were my first impressions. As a hunter, I would scrutinze everyting that happened on your hunt, why those long shots failed, why your equipment failed etc.
As for the elk ? 100% legal and probably some of the best meat you will ever frickin eat ! I mean, seriously, thats PRIME stuff right there.
I've been elk hunting, I know what it entails. You filled your tag and took your first elk. Even though it wasn't the big bull, a fine animal none the less.
Congrats

okay the above was BEFORE I read your sick elk story on the big game forum
you've elk hunted for how many years ? 7 ? This one was limping you said ? Had an infected bad leg ?
Sorry, 2 + 2 isn't equaling 4 for me on this one. You should be experienced enough to avert the combination of the stories you posted. I don't believe them, sorry man [:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(]

It was a legal kill, so who cares. Let it go. As far as if your saying "those long shots...well that ammo for an anti's " True, but so is taking a short shot at an animal. They hate EVERYTHING we do that involves hunting. I'm to the point now, that I dont care what they think, if they want to protest, etc etc. Do it away from me, otherwise your going to be fined or going to jail for hunter harassment. The point in the matter is that we are predators. Just like any other animal. We just so happen to be the most efficient and humane about it.
