I hope this is the first of many elk for stinkbelly. They can only get bigger in the future. That elk is going to be super tasty, and would have been the first one taken by a Mt. Lion, or killed by winter's freeze.
My first deer was a button buck about the size of a great dane when I was 16.
My little brother's first deer was a doe that just lost her spots when he was 23.
My best friend's first deer had 2inch spikes when he was 26.
The only difference between stinkbelly and us is that he has the balls to post how proud he is of his first kill dispite it's size. Nice job, buddy!!!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing like that first one. I'm sure most of the nay sayers would have been thrilled to harvest this animal after 7 years of chasing elk. Its not as easy as some folks might think.

Congrats on the kill, I would love to arrow an elk some day. That little sucker is gonna be awesome on the grill. I have been bow hunting for 18 years and have killed a bunch of deer. To this day I have no problem taking a small doe. Good herd management dictates you remove animals fromevery age class to maintain balance. Plus those little ones are so tasty and tender. Congrats again man.

Congrats man, that is great. The 1st is always the most memorable.
Bummer there's a bunch of downer posts, but I bet not even they can put a downer on getting your first elk.

I am shocked at some of the negative responses to this man taken a fine trophy. His first elk, CONGRATULATIONS! My first bow kill was a tasty doe fawn, the same as this elk calf without spots. I was as proud of that particular doe as any buck I've taken since. It was my first.
stinkbelly, congrats again and I'm saddened that some of our brothers are so negative. I love veal, I love venison, I love steak, that ELK will be some good eatin.
