Release Tension
How heavy or light do you guys have your mechanical release set? I have always shot a Tru-Ball Stinger. Great release IMO and never had a problem with it........I grabbed a Gander Mountain (guide series) release the other day because it was half price for $10 and I kinda liked it.......for a backup anyways. What I did notice though is that the GM release has a hair pin trigger........man that thing goes off if you breathe too hard on it It's kinda nice and I'm sure it would help if someone had trigger punching issues but it makes me nervous.......like I am expecting an acidental discharge at any moment.
Ilike my Tru-Ball feel but I think I could get used to the hair pin.
What do you guysuse??..............and why?

RE: Release Tension
Too light of release will CAUSE punching not cure it.
I know this sounds backwards but you have to be able to lay your finger on the trigger and start the squeezing process without fear the release will fire before your ready. If you start thinking the release will go off prematurely, you will start setting your finger above the trigger and not on it,and then start swinging your finger through the trigger(PUNCHING).
It is better to have a heavier trigger(IMO) that has no movement to it to fire.BUT this usually means a more expensive release.
One of the best, cost efficient releases I have seen and use is the Tru Ball Short and Sweet II.It is less than $50.00and works great for the hunters.I have $175.00 release that I have used for target shooting and Have shot some excellent scores with the Short and Sweet.
It isn't better than the expensive ones but is graet as a hunting release. Not too light on tension and not so heavy it won't go off on a command shot.
