cold weather gear

I would suggest a nice wool jacket also, in the late season thats what i wear and i usually never get cold, andwith a good layering system of fleece underneath.
here's a good wool coat from cabelas http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0020924931942a&type=product&cm Cat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&No=100&noImage=0&Ntt=wool &Ntk=Products&QueryText=wool&Ntx=match all&N=4887&Nty=1

I have the Redhead slimline cold weather Parka and bibs they are goretex and extremely warm. I have never been "out of stand cold". I also use a Under amour base layer on the top which seems to work quite well. Even when I sweat on the way my body stays pretty dry.

You a Toledo boy Kodiak? Had no idea. Might check into your charter service next year. Got any deals going till the end of this year. Grew up right next to U of T. Made it out to the country about 30 years ago and still I wonder how I got here.
You do guarantee we'll catch our limit in perch and walleye or won't have to pay, won't you?

I've heard that the fishing is really getting hot again, but a lot of people aren't going out because the gas is over $3.50 at the dock. I can't really comment on the charters, I've never been on one, but I know they have head boats in Port Clinton that are pretty cheap, like $25.00 a day. If you have the money I guess a private charter would be better though.
Where did you move out to?

Outside of B.G. Worked in Howards for a while andmeet a local girl there. It was all she wrote.
Things really took a turn out there when they changed the limit of perch. They changed to 40 this year I hear. That gas is a killer just for one good dinner of perch.
Good Hunting!

You got lots of good advice. I would jump on the chemical warmer (hand AND feet) bandwagon. Also, I found a nifty little piece of clothing that helps us bow hunters (probably gun hunters, too): It is basically a warm glove that has a mitten (unfingered) top that flips back. Keep your hands in the mitten until you see a deer, then flip back the mitten top so you have warm fingers to draw your bow. Magnets sewn into the fliptop and the back of the glove keep it open once it’s been flipped back (which keeps it out of your way). I keep a chemical handwarmer in the glove, too, just for good measure.
Happy hunting.
