I agree he should not have tagged it as wild. But do I really care, not so much. I think there are much worse things out there like poaching and WHO.
I would call this poaching!

I'll give the WHO more credit on this one as they are at least admitting they are hunting in high fenced enclosures (offering flawed reasoning), and conducting their shootings legally.

"I would bet the most expensive things guys like that have is time."

A poor excuse in my books. I wold be willing to bet most guys on this site with regular 9-5 jobs and families have a lot less time available to them than Gentry. My cousin works in the entertainment and music business and she will be the first to admit that when movies are not being shot, records not being produced, and tours not being conducted, she and her colleagues have a lot of free time. Of course they work like dogs when they are working - 15 plus hour days. But I'm sure this guy has off periods that would allow him to bring a fair chase trophy of some kind home.

If he had just decided I'm going to go shoot a caged bear (if that's legal in MN, not sure) and have it mounted to show my friends, then by all means go for it.
So if I have 20 cages on my property, each one with a different animal that I bought, you really wouldn't have a problem with me just going out there and popping them with an arrow while they are still in the cage?

So if he opened the cage door and waited for the bear to walk out to a bait pile and then shot it would that be legal?

Probably. But shouldn't the question be, "Is it ethical?"

Many things, while not being illegal are still wrong.
That he staged it as a wild hunt and tagged it as a wild bear shows he knew it.

If he thought that buying a tame bear and killing it inside a pen was ok he wouldn't have gone to the trouble of staging it as a hunt. He would've just filmed himself shooting it in the pen. That would've saved him time too.

Face it, it was wrong. If anyone else did the same thing it would still be wrong. It is not wrong just because he is famous. It is wrong because he is supposedly a human.
