whitetail hunting by the moon
#11
The past two years I have paid attention to the moon phases and it did not seem to make much of a difference at all. It may be different in other states but I haven't noticed it in Maryland.

The question is not whether or not to hunt by the moon... the question is HOW to hunt according to everything... The moon is only one of many factors to consider when deliberating on how to pursue your quarry.
Where I hunt, unless the rut is full on(1st-2nd wk of December...during which time I rarely get to hunt), You will see virtually no deer in the mornings when it's a full moon. Mid day and late evening is the time to be on the stand. You also have to consider which stand to hunt on a particular travel route because they likely will be moving differently than normal.
Just my experience in Central Texas... probably means bupkiss farther north...
