I am writing to see if i can get some other view points on how to get in and out of my hunting property in upper central, PA.
Here is the situtation, i have access to hunting property behind my fathers friends house in PA. Now i bow as well as gun hunt this property and it is set up with two big woods lots and a large field splitting them right down the middle. AS you are looking at the property i am allowed access to the wood lot on the right hand side. THE PROBLEM is that in the fall (oct/Nov) the wind consistently blows at least 90% of the time from left to right or directly across the field into the big wood lot i have access to.
This means that when entering the woods the wind is always at your back blowing into the area i plan to hunt. Aside from the deer that come out of the other wood lot and cross the field into mine i am always having deer coming from the downwind side or getting to my down wind side as they are passing my stand inthe woods. Frustrating to say the least.
This is the only access i have, i wear scent lok, use scent away sprays, bag my close and try to get in early and stay all day, climb at least 20-25 feetso as not to leave too many trails in and out of the woods.
Other than this what other possibilities do i have???
Any advice would help.

Parachute?
If you're entering the woods on the right (looking at it).....and the wind blows 90% of the time from left to right.....then what you have is either:
A PERFECT WIND
or
A poor description of the area.
Clarification?????

Assuming you just descibed the wind direction backwards, I have had your very problem. No good answer exist. You have to sometimes just do your best and hunt. Now I might have some people disagree with me but I have for the last several years been a freak with scent contol. I don't wear Scent-lok but I wash with the no-scent soap and shampoo, spray everything with Scentaway spray. I mean everything. Think about your release strap. How many times in the summer have you sweated on it. And do nottouch anything prior to huntingthat will contaminate yourself or your equipment. With these measures I have not "seen" a deer spookfor a few years, even downwind. Hard to beleive but true. Good luck.

Sounds like a problem for sure, but even if you could circle downwind or enter from the other side of the woods wouldn't you be on the wrong side of the deer and the way they travel (towards the field)... Only thing you can do I think, is to find somewhere else to hunt 90% of the time and hunt when the wind is right...
I agree there could be more you could do in terms of scent control, but I would never hunt a stand with dead wrong wind... Just not a wise decision IMO...
