PETA vs. Bowhunters?
#11
I'd like to see the videos of all the deer that have been injured by motor vehicles, too.....and see if PETA can get Fords and Chevy's banned while they're at it.
Gentlemen.....just be careful. This situation (if it indeed unfolds) is EXACTLY what I was speaking of in another thread. The biggest threat we have, as hunters.....is NOT PETA. It's the inner bickering that hunters have amongst ourselves (take the examples of baiting/running dogs/Sunday hunting....in my home sate). The more we, as the hunting community, are divided amongst ourselves........the easier it is for groups like PETA (and others) to use our OWN words and people against US. I have opinions on all the examples I listed, above. They're all legal in my state (except Sunday hunting.....which is finally being addressed).....so I won't denigrate ANYONE for taking an animal by a legal method. I won't give them an inch.........

Kevin1 posted that animal shelters are controlled by AHS and not HSUS. I don't know about nation wide, but in Houston,Dallas, and in Colorado Springs,at the Animal shelter if you ask the directors what the pet adoption fees are used for, they will tell you(I know this from experience) that 3-5 dollars of every pet adoption fee, go to anti-hunting and other animal rights campaigning.... when they told me that the last time I went to adopt a cat for my wife, I left the cat there and went somewhere else. One time before I went there wearing my camo baseball cap that I wear everywhere, they asked me if I hunted. I said yes, they said leave.(summary explaination).
Make no mistake, the enemy's war machine is running at full throttle and there's plenty of gas in the tank.

See the difference for yourself:
American Humane Association(formerly society)
Humane Society of the United States
Neither organization is thrilled by hunting , but only one of the two thinks there is a realistic chance of getting it banned . The AHA is more tolerant because they know that there is not currently a viable method of animal population control that can compete with hunting and probably never will be , the HSUS will spend every dime they have to eradicate all animal use , especially hunting . BTW , the HSUS doesn't maintain a single animal shelter in this country that I'm aware of .

Hate to say but the talking heads will neverbe able toban hunting, it's a multi billion dollar industry providing an unbelieveable amount of jobs, and millions of dollars if not billions of dollars in funding that goes toward the acquisition and preservation of much of the land these organizations say is so important to the wildlife. These people need to realize that here (at least in Ohio) much of the public land that these animals call home was bought and paid for from license fees coming from the hunting public.
Until PETA or HSUS or whomever can find a way to replace a several billion dollar industry, countless government dollars and funding, this won't happen.

As you also said; "That said it is important as members of the hunting community to continue to uphold firm ethics and educate all those out there about the practices of ethical hunting." !!!

You can sure bet anti hunting activists dont have a problem eating beef, pork, chicken, fish or turkey, especially at Thanksgiving. They have no leg to stand on in my book. They need to shut their mouths and open their minds.
