Throw the drunk off the dream season show
#21
I have to agree with Orion. I am glad they showed it.
People staying up getting drunk happens every weekend of the hunting season, no matter where you are. I would even be willing to bet that there are members here that do it. They may not come out and say they do, but with the number of members that we have, there has to be some.
The drury boys showed a real life situation and his partner did the right thing. I haven't caught the show, but atleast one half of that team has some sense!!

I haven't seen it, but will watch it tonight, since I have it recorded. I agree that people do drink and then get up early to hunt in the morning. I'm sure some people have heard the ole saying, "The Best Way to rid of a hangover is to go hunting". Not my cup of tea, but I know plenty of people who do it.
But on the other side hunting shows, even reality type, hunting shows need to be held to a standard. The last thing we need is non-hunterswatching or heariing about a hunting showthat isportraying us huntersas unresponsible drunks. From the sounds of it, that is what the show is doing.
We'll see though. I'll get more of an opinion, after I watch it. I'm sure the Drury's have something in store for us, come next week, involving making a point.

I guess kshunter said what I was trying to say in my earlier post, but didn't come across right.
Lone Wolf, I wasn't trying to offend you by what I was saying, but it seems like you kind of took offense to it. Sorry about that. I wasn't trying to come across as some holier than thou guy. I know that people like to drink in deer camp, at ball games, ESPECIALLY at the Nascar races I go to
, etc. I don't drink anymore, I quit several years ago. But man I used too!! When I was stil partying, I did drink after hunts and on fishing trips, but I never ever entered the woods drunk or stll half drunk from the night before.
Even though I no longer drink, I guarentee you that I am not one of those that preaches against anyone who does Everyone has a choice. It just isn't for me anymore. But I have alot of good friends who still do. No problem here. But I won't go hunting with any of them if they have been. That is just my choice.
What I was trying to say, is that , as we all know, Hunters are on attack from all sides. It issad, butthe general view by the non hunting public is that weare a bunch of beer guzzling, redneck slobs. All you have to do is see how we are represented in movies, comercials, cartoons etc. Unfortunately, that is our label.
Now look at how we all got excited over the WHA and how it would affect us and our image. So we all spoke out about it.
Now, I feel the same way about the drunk, loudmouth slob image that we have. And to me, the Penn. guy on Dream Seasonjust adds fuel to the fire. I know that we as hardcore hunters just look at him as an idiot, and we probably all know that guy or may even have that guy in our deer camp. I know that I have been in many places with those guys.
I was just really suprised that the Drurys allowed that image of hunting camp to be portrayed that way, because they are definitely very concerend about the image,an example of that is how they are very adamant about getting the point across that they hunt 100% fair chase 100% of the time. I was just dissapointed that they chose to show that part of the show.
Whoknows, maybe they did something about itand made a point to show their displeasure in that way of representing the hunting image in the upcoming show or shows. I guess that we will find out.
Man, I know that having some drinks goes hand in hand with alot of things Believe me, I did my share of that in my younger years. I in no way am trying to get down on anyone for that ata ll. And if that is how I came across, I am sorry about that. Lone Wolf, That is all I meant. Sorry if that offended you, that wasn't my intent at all.
I just feel like kshunter. I love the hunting life so much that I hate to see it tainted in anyway bout a select few idiots that put it in a bad light. As he said, the hunting shows do have a standard that they should live up to. Man, I hate the thought of a hunting show turning in to Jerry Springer
. Although I will admit, I would have loved to see the other Penn. guy crack the drunk dude in the jaw!! Uh..... off camera of course

Proff,
No-Worries bro, no-offense taken on my side. You were just stating you're opinion, I was doing the same! I have seen some pretty crazy nights at the trade-shows, that's more where I was coming from. Of-course, I'm in-bed by 9:00, so I don't see too much! he he he....

Well I also did not see this show but from reading the posts I think I have the idea.. My question is this, why does it seem that many people are assuming he was still drunk? I have had some major hang overs from a few drinks, and have been ready to get up and go after a few to many drinks. To tell ya the truth just hearing about it has my curiosity going to go and check it out...just my opinion...

Dutch25 from the Kisky forum? What's up man. I saw the show and it was stated that he was up all night. Everyone is assuming that he partied and drank all night and was still drunk. He never went to bed so he had no chance to sleep it off. That's why he was still drunk.

Thanks for the update, Iunderstand that a example must be set and there is a "line" that needs to be drawn. I am not very easily offended but I understand where everyone is comeing from

I had to laugh tonight. My wife and I went to our best friends house tonight to have a campfire tonight. When I came walking in, the first thing my buddy said was " Did you see Dream Season this week?" I smiled and said yes. He said " Man, that little guy from Penns. is a total jerk!!". I laughed and told him how it was being discussed quite heavily on here. Thought it was funny.
Hey Buckthumper and Squirrel, I got on my buddies computer and showed him how to vote for you guys also. He said to tell you he will be voting for you every day also.
By the way, how much do you guys pay for campaigning fees??
A hunt in Illinois will cover it!

Haven't seen it yet, but interesting reading... Just wonder if they put it on there to provide a moral lesson? So as bad as the drunk guy was his teammate stood up for the RIGHT thing... Wish I had the chance on that show. If it was my teamamte that screwed me over I'd be torqued off.
Born and raised in PA, but now happy to live and hunt whitetails in IL.I vote team IL.
