Holding Breath????
#1
Probably a dumb question but whats the best breathing strategy,or is it just preference?I've heard some say take a deep breath and hold, and heard others say deep breath and exhale half.
Thanks,

I allow my breathing patterns regulate my shot sequence. It is one of the only things that doesn't change often and is constant. I inhale deeply upon drawing the bow and exhale a little once back at full draw. I can comfortably hold for around 8-9 seconds after reaching full draw before I begin to start consciously thinking about wanting another breath, if the arrow isn't gone by then I let down.

You should slowly be exhaling when executing your shot. Same goes for rifle, martial arts, pushing weights etc...but natural is your next best bet, never hold your breath.

Its like a good golf shot. Just hast to happen. Forget all the bad shots and touch that trigger (hit the ball) like you've never missed a bullseye (or fairway) in your life.
In both golf and archery one tip that really works for me is to make the bullseye (or hole) a lot smaller than it actually is. Pick a spot on the bullseye (or a grain of grass on the back of the cup) and hit it. Your bad shots will get a lot a better when your shooting for something a lot smaller!
But to answer your question, exhale softly. Thats what snipers do.
