Our season starts mid October and things change so much at that time of year, especially food, that the deer at least in the North East start changing their routine. Which of course is why they say October deer are so hard to kill. Any way I set mine up just before the opener. Say a week before and then change them all hunting season as the deer change their areas. Which is why I scout all season long I don't quit just because the season started.

I set up everyday......I carry my stand on my back. ( climber)..I hate not having any private land to hunt....but, that being said, I normally know where I am going...by mid-September.

We usually go up anytime during the last 2 weeks of August. It is plenty of times for the woods to settle down and be ready for opening day. Plus, if I put my stands in places that aren't doing anything for me I can move them after the season starts and see some bucks.

I will trim my lanes in aug but i will set up my stands in early sept.

I don't prehang stands. They get stolen and people see where I am hunting. This is on private land too.

August for me. That's enough time to let the woods settle down but late enough to get a good idea of where they will be during the season. Travel patterns change too much here.

I also agree that it is too hot and those dang bugs eat me alive!

I have been hunting in the same 30 trees for the last 24 years. I leave mine up all year. Some are nailed into trees, some are ladders, hangons, have 5 box stands I use,countless natural ground blinds. Yeas these are on both private and public.

I put Oct for me because i have all my spots cleared and ready to go but i dont actually hang any untill i hunt. I dont leave any up move all the time i dont hunt more than twice from any one spot.. Hunt like a wolf baby!!!!

we have already started hanging stands on the farm. we do it early so we can get everything set up in plenty time so we can let things cool down as much as possible. we then do not go into the areas at all except maybe twics just to check on things.

5 minutes before I shimmy up the tree, because I love my Loggy!
