When do you set up your tree stands? Why?
Just curious when every one sets there stands and why then... For me it depends on the site but for the most part I have to wait and see whats happening in September...

September 1st week - Gives me a good idea what they are eating and where they are traveling. This way you don't have to go in moving stuff around when you find out that early season food source just changed. Just my way of thinkin I guess. I will move a stand during season but only if I am absolutely sure I can get away with it.

Anyway, in areas that produceuear in and year outI put up stands early. Sometimes late June early July if I don't just leave the stands up. Everywhere else I put stands up in early August.

I "Set up" the area in March, trim branches put the tree spikes in etc.
In Sept I make a quickand set the stand up and do a little touch up.
I do this not to spend to much time in a mature bucks house. The more time you spend in his house setting up you tree stand later in the year. The higher the chance he will find out you are there, and go nocturnal.

I try to get my set ups completed before Sept. Our season in WV comes in mid Oct. I try to get in and get out without disturbing too much. I'll have to wait until later this year though. My lease is scheduled to be timbered sometime between now and the end of the year. I thought they were going to do it last year, but they only put the roads in. I'd like to wait and see what's cut before I start hanging stands.[:@]

October because I only have climbers prior to purchasing a ladder stand this year . The ladder stand will be going up sometime soon , probably early to mid September . I still need to assemble it and do some camo work to it .
