I use a Scott's Lil'goose with the buckle strap. Great release. A buckle will be much quieter if your planning on taking it off once you get to your stand. I don't know about you, but I try to be silent going to and getting in my stand.

Check out the Primos release. It is a strap release with a buckle. Really inexpensive. I climb with mine on for the same reason that you do.
