I want to start hunting from the ground and I wanted to see how the diehard ground hunters in here go about it. Do you hunt from manufactured blinds..if so what kind...or do you make a natural blind....if so how...of do you build your own out of materials?? Thanks alot guys.

Well I got my first bowkill from the ground last night and have killed a bunch with a gun from the ground. I prefer natural stands, fallen trees, a big stump, anything that does 2 things, first it must have enough cover in front to either totally block a view of me or at least break up my image, second it must have a good backdrop to do the same. If you want to build a natural or build a blind on the ground, you should have it built well before the season to allow the deer to get used to it and have it "AIRED OUT". I love hunting from the ground if it is the right circumstances, but I don't mind hunting from a tree as long as it is a permanent stand, I just do not feel comfortable in a climbing or hanging stand.

I also look for natural ambush area's.I've been known to dig a foxhole if I need to get lower.I use netting with about 1 inch square holes and put leaves and branches in the netting.Always make sure the wind is in your favor.Where I hunt the wind comes from the west to northwest 75% of the time.If the wind is swirling I get in a tree stand.Hope this helps, good luck
