I thought South Carolina used to have a season that opened around the middle of August. What happened to that, did they drop it? I was trying to see how early and where I could start. Looks like the earliest is Sept.

Certain "low-state" counties (Calhoun, Orangeburg, Berkeley, Dorchester, Charleston, Sumter, Lee, Darlington, Clarendon, Williamsburg, Georgetown, Barnwell, Bamburg, Allendale, Hampton, Colleton, Jasper, and Beaufort) all come in on August 15th for private lands. Most of the "midlands" and "upstate" come in later (Sept. 1 thru Oct. 1). I live in the upstate so the earliest mine comes in is Sept. 15. I might try the lowstate again this year if I feel like braving 95 degree weather, mosquitoes the size of birds, and the canebrake rattlers...
