Welcome to board! I have the Summit bushmaster and had the same thoughts. I like to have the option to take a shot sitting down and I thinking that if it had the front bar I would loose that option. That is something to consider. I'm sure that there are enough guys that have the viper or cobra that can answer your question. Good Luck!

I have the Summit Viper and have found no problem with the bar at all.Although it would be diffcult to take a forward shot from the seated position,it's not a problem to stand when this oppertunity presents itself.I really like the bar,It act as a bow holder, laying the bow across it,in the slow times.Adjusting the seat position also helps give you the clearence past the bar.Good luck on your decision. And welcome to the best board around!!

It can if you're not careful when you set up. If you get the platform and the top part too far apart the wrap around can get in the way when you stand. Even though I like to be almost standing when I sit you got to set it a little lower. With the wrap around closer together is better.

2 things kept me from buying a climber with a bar around it.
(1) I detest anything that may be in the way of a shot.
(2) I feel more secure when climbing by using my forearms than I do by sitting and standing.
But that is just me.

I went to the local bow shop in my area and asked what stands they use for bow hunting and the owner uses a Summit Python and the other one uses the Summit Viper. The man with the Viper said the bar doesn't get in the way. I bought the Summit Python because you can stand-up sit-down climb, or use your arms and climb. also there is no bar to get in the way. I gun hunt also and so if I wanted to I could raise the bar and have the shooting rail. The Summit Python has worked great for me.
