I've only killed one deer with a bow so far. That was last year and my first outing with a bow...I retired the arrow. It's on display in my den.

I use one until I lose or break it. Of course the broadheads are replaced
each time.

I would personally keep using the arrow, but first check if it still shoots straight. This past season I took three deer with one arrow. Ialways pull that same arrow out of the quiver every time I climb into the treestand.

If it shoots straight and is not damaged, there is no reason to "take it out of service" unless you're afraid of losing it or just want to use it as part of your trophy. A buddy of mine keeps all his arrows with the buck regardless if he mounts it or not. To him, it's part of the trophy.

I shoot too many deer to retire an arrow after each one, that would get really expensive. I clean, inspect and keep shooting untill the arrow is destroyed.

Thanks for all the replies.

I almost lost it this year when I shot at a smaller buck. My dad took care of him after he trotted his way. Anyway, we went back a day later and I re-climbed the tree and was able to find it that way. So it has almost gotten lost before and I would rather not lose it.

I will probably end up keeping it to remember the season.
