Default Turkey hunting.... Good idea or bad?

Hey all, Ive been thinking of using my bow this turkey season. I have an older mathews i shot for years, and this past year i upgraded to the Hoyt Vtec. Both bows shoot great, and are well tuned. I was thinking of dropping the poundage back on my mathews to around 50 for turkeys, think it would mess me up too much trying to switch bows? I think if i have plenty of time to practice it wont matter to much, i just didnt want to mess w/ my hoyt too much since i spent a lot time tuning it and im not taking a 73 lb draw turkey hunting. Also... the arrows for my mathews have blue and white fletchings... think i should change them for turkeys, or could i just take a sharpe and draw some green on them?

No reason you can't setup your Mathews for turkeys... like you said, you going to practice with it. I wouldn't recommend the blue fletch tho...for safety reason....tgobblers heads are known to be blue in the spring mating season and I would't want some errand turkey hunter to mistake your fletch for a moving head of a gobbler..for safety, your not suppose to wear anything red, white or blue for turkeys...especially something that moves alot like your arrows on the bow..

Could someone explain to me the reason you would drop your draw weight down to go turkey hunting? I have heard quite a few people mention this...

I have heard of folks saying they're going to use expandables and don't want them to open...which doesn't make any sense to me....[&:]

I know I'm an idiot, but I'm not stupid!

My bow is set for max at 60lbs ,but I use the Muzzy grasshopper's to keep the arrow in the bird .The Grasshopper's go on your shaft before you put your broadhead on .But if you have the second bow set for 50lbs there's no reason not to use it .But I also agree with not using the blue fletching's ,just for the safety factor.

When hunting turkeys with the bow you want your arrows to stay in the bird. So lowering your bow poundage will help. You want big expandables so you lose penetration and that your arrow stays in the bird.
