I live in elk country and I shoot 100 grain.
That's an age old question, about more weight and penetration. You add weight and I suppose it should penetrate more, but it also slows down the projectile. At what point does the added weight cancel out the penetration?
I'd say stay with what you and your bow are used to, and don't worry about it. I'd concentrsate more on getting in shape, practicing, and good shot placement.

Whatever weight broadhead makes your arrows fly best, with the most consistent accuracy is the one you need to use. Period.

I use 125. I like heavy front of center and don't worry much about speed of the arrow. I like heavy KE. Distance of shots on elk has never been an issue. All but one of the many bulls that I have taken, have been under 20 yards, with most being in the 10 - 15 yard range. Heavier FOC and more helicle or offsetwill generally give you a more forgiving setup.Good luck

Don't forget to check what the regs are for arrow weight wherever you are hunting. In Idaho your arrow has to weigh 400 grains. The weight of the arrow is important with big game so that you have enough kinetic energy to penetrate the animal. Check the regs where you are hunting, the weight of the arrow that you are using and then find a broadhead that will work for both. Good luck. Hope ya bag a big 'un.

I had a complete pass thru on my bull elk at 33 yards with 100 grain Muzzy...I was shooting about 75 ft lbs of KE at the time... so with your 2 blade cut on contact, 100 grains is plenty.
