Kindof the same situation here. We built this business in 2002 and there has been deer all over the place right behind me. Last year a really nice buck ran across the road in front of my brother and in the last 2 weeks 2 cowhorns have been run over within 500yds. of here. This city has some sort of ordinance even on bows. I called and even within 1 mile of city limits( something about extended juristiction{spelling?})you are not allowed to even shoot a bow with a hunting head on the arrow. I practice with field tips behind our shop but I have not even set foot in the pines...too tempting[:@]Think about going in there with my climber every day.

It's LEGAL to hunt within the city limits of SOME VA cities until late MArch (25th?). Bow only......does only.
Someone from VA chime in here and give the particulars.

Wonder what they would do if you killed a buck that has already shed his antlers? I can't always see the sack hanging.[8D]

Well, do you want to be known as an ethical hunter or unethical?
It sucks, but the laws are the laws and you should indeed abide by them. Put out a trail camera and watch him grow over the years. Study him and learn about deer behavior which in turn will make you a better hunter.

Just yesterday in town there was a doe running around with a arrow sticking out of its front shoulder. The local CO ended up killing it in the Amercana Inn parking lot. Looks real good for the rest of us bowhunters!

Sorry about the confusion onmy 1st post on this subject. And I was
only talking about not being able to bowhunt in certain areas of the city
limits, not inneighborhoods or real close to town where a deer might cause trouble or an accident if it did not immediately go down. I hope this
clears up any confusion.

Here where I live in Kentucky, we have to get written permission from the Chief of Police in the town that you want to hunt in. In our town we have a pretty largedeer population. To the point that I see deer eating in peoples yards on my way to work.Maybe you need to call your county game warden and see what they can do about opening it up for bow.

Theres zero restrictions on bowhunting in CT as far as I know. Some towns have tried passing ordinances but the state law superceeds them & they get thrown out, so far anyway. I have a couple spots in residential areas that get me alot of venison. It becomes much more important to make a quick kill tho because as others mentioned it sucks when they die in someones yard.

Here in Michigan, you can hunt anywhere as long as your 450ft from an Occupied Dwelling, unless you have WRITTEN permission. If the City has an Ordinace against hunting in city limits, your screwed. But where I live, everyone bowhunts in city limits, its almost hard not to. People own 40's and 40's of land that are within city limits and that is where the majority of the deer are. I have yet to hear of someone getting a ticket for bowhunting in city limits, but everyone also keeps it quiet.
