I did my first scout today.I found a lot of deer tracks, scraped trees, a hunting tree stand and a salt block.
Of course no deer where visible, as exected, this beeing my first time. I tried not to step on the deer track.
I also found dried out ditches that give good cover.
Should i proceed with the ditches, i can hide most of my body in them, and scan the area.
I will leave the ground at peace for a few days and return later.

ANy advice what i should have done.

Ditches are good to hide in, but if they are dry and full leaves they can be very noisy. If you can stay quite in them I would hang close to the ditches.

Lay down in that ditch, cover yourself with dry leaves and what not.
Take a knife out. Put that salt block on your chest and wait.

Yeh I would hang close to those ditches. like stoneman said, who needs a knife.
