Default He's back.... he's gone again...

Just got back from NY. No deer. In fact, I only saw3 deer in the woods the whole time. Not many deer around there. They gave out NO doe permits this year. Usually I'll see deer on the 20 mile ride to and from the woods along the road. I saw a total of 3 deer along the road in 4 days and an 8 point that got whacked by a car on the outskirts of town. Had fun though. We had all pretty much decided no one wanted the deer so we weren't shooting unless it was a whopper. Wed I got rained out. Total gully washer. Nice and cold Thurs-Sat.For example..the high in town yesterday was 37 Snow passed us by. It was 20-22 in town everyday when I left for the woods. We're up on some big hills and it's always 5 or 6 degrees cooler there. Yesterday I stayed on the tree from 6:15 until 5 PM. I took one 30 minute break to guide a lost hunter back to a trail that would get him out. I pointed him in the right direction once. The directions seemed clear and simple to me. I don't know what he did but it was wrong because 30 minutes after leaving me he came back buy from the same direction he came from the first time. I was afraid we'd have to be searching for a lost hunter if I didn't show him out. It was 1 PM and he was suppose to have methis buddies at the vehicle at 10:30. First time I've seen anyone back in that far in 3 or 4 years. Anyway, the climb down and the walk out to the trail head warmed the old bones. 4 of us saw a total of8 deer yesterday. All does.Got to run. Gotclothes to wash and pack for Tenn.

...See, I have been telling everyone for years that deep down under that crusty exterior and those blue undies lies the soul of a saint!

Sounds like you guys worked hard! Those deer don't know how lucky they were!
