I am 100% certain that a deer can live with one lung, as I killed one in which that was the case. The bad lung was nothing more than clumps of scar tissued, fused to the inside of the ribcage. Not saying that every single lung shot is not lethal, but they can live.

I just dont understand how a deer hit in the lung can't bleed to death..I mean we would. But we get medical attention, they dont.

That's why I believe (also John Trout) it is best to get on them within 20 minutes. It's your best bet on a single lung (only) hit deer.

Deer are much hardier than we are...their bodies are much more capable of recovering from massive injury than we are. I know of a 170 class whitetail that's in my county right now, with two pass-through wounds on it. It's been shot twice this year, within two weeks of each other, and it's been 3 weeks since the last shot. The guy that owns the land (and shot the deer) has trail cam pics of it this week feeding, and it SEEMS healthy. I know it's early to predict this buck will survive long term, but I can't think of a single place on the human body that could take 2 broadhead hits and let the person survive. In case anyone was wondering, the entrance/exit wounds on this buck are just a bit behind the lungs and below the spine. The had VERY good blood trail on both hits, that died out. I hope the guy gets a 3rd chance (since it's too far away from where I hunt for to ever see this buck in the woods)
