Shot an 8...need some help
#32
My first bow-kill was also an 8 point, same situation he was coming at me. I put the arrow right through the jugular. He crashed in sight with a blood trail a blind man could have followed for all 20 yards of it! I wouldn't take that shot now, but it can be made quickly and cleanly!

Hey man. The important thing is to learn from your mistakes. Although some people in this thread seem to have forgotten we ALL make mistakes or bad decisions.
Good luck in finding him.

May you never end up in a hunting camp with me.

ps iowabob - i've killed ALOT of deer with a bow, and so far i've only lost one deer. hit a little five pointer too far back and high my second year. i believe it passed through without hitting any organs so im sure he lived. my bow has more kinetic energy than your muzzleloader so i dont want to hear it. the day you see me looking for wounded deer and not finding them then you can log onto this board and brag to everybody. until then, you hunt your way, ill hunt mine. but i ALWAYS come out with my deer.

I have been hunting a few years and never encountered a fron on shot (always broadside). I always thought a front/chest shot was an ok one to take. Most books and magazines I have read show the different shot placements and the front/middle of the chest has been one of them. Is all this mis-information? Or is it the fact that wvbowhntr was hestitant and iffy on the shot from the getgo?
BTW, If it is an incorrect shot placement, spare me any of the critisim. This is why im a member here and other boards is to learn more/read more etc etc..
