You absolutely do not have to add the lines..."I might catch some flak for her size..." or " I know he's not the largest buck..." when telling your stories and sharing your pictures on this board!!!!! ESPECIALLY when it is your very first deer!!!!
Couldn't agree more and that is one of the reasons I always post the "Be Proud of What you Shoot" thread at the top of the forum at the beginning of every hunting season.

I did the same thing in the youth forum last season. I am trying to get a hold of Redhawk or someone that can post my post for this year at the top in the youth forum.

Very well said! They all count one especially when taken with a bow, and if they are small then you have to be that much better of a shot to place the arrow where it needs to be!

I agree with yall. Hunters need encouragement, not harrassment.

Good thoughts! I got a one this past weekend. When people ask how many points it had,I tell them it was a doe. They say, "Oh." When I tell them it was with a bow and that you are allowed does during bow season because there are too many, theyseem to be enlightened a little.

Many of the people I work with are not hunter and don't really know about deer management. It gives me a chance to explain hunting and the benefits of hunting. They sure don;t mind eating it when I bring it to work. They love the sausage balls I bring.

I've been saying the same thing in all my QDM bashing for years. I tell every young, new or unsuccessful new bowhunter.... JUST SHOOT SOMETHING. True I don't want you shooting bambi, but shoot something that's legal. Doe, spike, ...whatever. Then do it again a few times and learn what archery and all that goes with it is about. THEN, if you decide you want to wait on ONLY MACHO BUCK, so be it. But don't you be telling the rest of the world what to shoot. It's just as hard to whack those first few, no matter what variety they are, as it is to shoot Macho Buck. And hey, it's suppose to be FUN!!!!! It's not fun if you're shamed into holding out for something that may not even exist in your hunting grounds. You shoot it..... I"ll jump up and down and be happy for you. BUT, I'm getting old and can't jump as high as I once could so I need some help here.[8D]

I personally will not shoot a small buck. Ive shot enough deer in my life so i dont want to. However I will shoot a doe with out reservations for the meat. It is my girlfiends first year this year, and I told her whatever ya want take it. I dont give a dam if it is a 50lb fawn. First deer, break the ice and understand what this all about. My son can hunt in 2 yrs he will brought up the same way. Dont be shooting at every critter that comes by, but take the first oportunity that rises.

Great post! As long as it legal with your state game laws...take it, and be proud of it. Don't let others get you down. I'll shoot does all year and take 1 or 2 bucks if one comes my way.

IMO, any kill with a bow is well earned. Big bucks only add up to big money for the opportunity to hunt them.
