IMHO I would either go before work or after work just to keep the tradition going.

I feel that your days off are better used later in the season.

I work in Winchester my friend and I think the weather will be just fine in the morning and they are calling for mid 70's with lows for the morning in the 40's. You need to do what is right but it looks to be a good morning for the first day.

oooohhh, the suspense. I am seriously torn on this. I will be doing NOTHING at work, and I work for the goverment, so keeping the bosses happy is NOT a concern. opening day is special. I just have to pick a stand. I can get the day off, and I get 10 hours of vacation every two weeks. decisions, decisions. the one problem is this, I have this new place to hunt, but I didn't mark a tree to get into.. ahh! I guess I'll go to my old stand by where I darted a doe last year on oct 5 and passed a nice eight.

ORIGINAL: Arthur P

Nobody ever laid on their death bed wishing they worked just that one more day but there are plenty out there wishing for just that one extra hour in the woods.
Yep, but I've rubbed elbows with many a guy in the unemployment line that wishes he still had his job the Monday after opening day. Been there, done that. [8D]
Aurthur, I agree 100%. I'm not saying blow off work, quit your job and go hunting. I'm merely saying that if he has the days and can get off like he says he can than go for it. Nobody gets ticked, nobody loses their job and you keep the tradition alive.

hoyt3, you'll thank me when you arrow the biggest buck of your life tomorrow morning
