bees ; take a look at the post "spitfires revisited pass-thru" it shows both sholders hit. there wasjust the front edge of the lungs hit in this shot.about 1 or 2 " into the lungs.it did hit the edge of the heart and cut the vains that feed the top of the heart.
that was the only shot I had, knowning I could hit it I took the shot.
the deer was quartering to me and the off leg was back.I thought it would go in by the bone and out behind the off shoulder.didn't happen that way , but worked out to the good.

A couple years back I shot an 8pt that was quartering away. Went through both lungs and heart. It broke the far leg bone but that's where it stopped. I was shooting 78ftlbs of kinetic energy at the time. That was with a Spitfire though. I believe it's very possible that if I were using one of my Muzzys at the time , I would have had to pick it out of the dirt.

I have shattered a shoulder bone on a fawn.I was using a thunderhead 125 grain. Was a big mess bone in everthing.my arrow went 3/4 of the way through but it didnt ass all the way through the shoulder.Almost but no cigar.the deer was quartering away and only about 15 yards away.I shot down through the heart and got the botttom half of the shoulder bone.

I've found that when people say that, most of the time they're talking about the meat, muscle, cartiledgeand junk surrounding the actual bone. Once in a while they hit the bone. In my opinion, people are quite liberal when they say it blew through the shoulder.

I believe the area in the center of the shoulder blade is thinner. If I recall Dairy King posted a picture a few months ago of where a 4 blade stinger went through the center of the shoulder blade of a hog. Was a real good pic. I also believe a double lung/both shoulders shot would be extremely difficult to do on command on deer. It would take a specific quartering shot and alot of power. Now hogs have lungs farther forward and a little higher, would be alot easier on hogs...
